BHOPAL: Kidnapping of CID cop’s son, which prima facie seemed a family
‘drama’, came out to be a misdeed of a big inter-state girl trafficking
network by evening when the accused were arrested.
The police arrested all the 14 traffickers, including four women, involved in
kidnapping the 20-year-old son of a police constable (CID) in brought daylight
from his residence at Shivaji Nagar under Habibganj police station on
Thursday. All the traffickers belong to red light areas of Gwalior, Nagpur and
Rajasthan.
Vipin Pandey, a taxi driver of Chhindwara, used to visit Nagpur red light area
Ganga-Jamuna. He developed friendship, which developed into an affair. Both
planned marriage when Gudiya (name changed) told her past story and they fled
from the red light area. As per her story, Gudiya’s parents died two years
back when she was just 15.
Her uncle (mama) Raja alias Thela sold her to other uncle (mausa) Pan Singh of
Badnampur who ran a brothel in Gwalior, for Rs 9 lakh. Pan Singh sold her to a
Nagpur brothel for Rs 15 lakh.
Pimps at Ganga-Jamuna swung into action and finally traced her location. They
came to Bhopal to take her back to their den in Nagpur. When they did not find
her, they kidnapped CID’s son Gaurav Sharma alias Rupal in the noon.
Police sounded alert in all the nearby districts. Eventually Pan Singh, Ram,
Rahul, Chain Singh, Harish, Mohd Sadiq, Vichram, Jagan Singh, Kanija, Asha,
Pravin, Mausmi, Harsh and Mangal were arrested.
As per the police, Rupal alias Gaurav Sharma, 20, son of Prakash Sharma posted
at PHQ, was kidnapped from Shivaji Nagar in a Tavera (RJ-68-UA-2195)
registered with Rajasthan and a Scorpio registered at Gwalior (MP-07-CE-1852)
was also a part of the troupe.
Prakash Sharma told the police, “Rupal’s cousin Vipin had affair with Gudiya.
Both Vipin and Gudiya were at his Shivaji Nagar residence the whole day. Vipin
lives in a rented house in Bhopal. Kidnappers repeatedly asked about Vipin.
But Rupal’s mother Savita Sharma said take my son instead of Vipin.”
The kidnappers entered the house and misbehaved with family members of Sharma
and took Rupal with them. Rupal’s mother sustained head injuries following the
scuffle and was admitted to JP Hospital. Habibganj police were informed.
Immediately Gudiya and Vipin also visited Habibganj police station.
The police alerted all the police stations. When the kidnappers saw police
team, they dumped Rupal and tried to flee. Rupal was taken into police custody
and four kidnappers were arrested.
DIG Raman Sikarwar, while interacting with media persons said, “It was an
inter-state gang of women traffickers who had come to Bhopal to take the girl
back to Nagpur-based red light area Ganga-Jamuna. When they did not find the
girl, they kidnapped Rupal instead. The police succeeded in nabbing all the 14
involved in the kidnapping.”
