Shaitaan- A Criminal Mind: Mohammad Saleem Kuraishi A Serial Killer killed over 250 people (Episode 1 on 1st Dec 2012)

The Inside Story

Another serial killer was arrested by the Meerut police today here, Sahara Samay sources said.

According to the channel, arrested killer Mohammad Saleem Kuraishi (shown as Sunil) was involved in more than 250 cases of murder.

The kingpin of the Saleem gang confessed that he killed 250 people in three years.

The police said that he used to kill the people after looting them. At least 40 to 45 policemen also became victims of this notorious killer, the channel added.

At least 40-member Saleem gang was active in the eastern Uttar Pradesh and it was trying to spread its reach in western part of the state, police claimed.

The police said that raids are on to arrest other members of the game.

The alleged serial killer whose arrest Thursday led to the sensational disclosure about the killing of as many as 250 people, has named seven more accomplices.

'We are rushing police parties in search of these people named by Salim, whose gang of highway robbers has confessed to have killed 250 men, women and children over the past few months,' Meerut senior superintendent of police Dipesh Juneja told IANS Friday.

He said: 'All of them, including Salim belong to Bahraich, a Uttar Pradesh district bordering Nepal.'

Salim, a middle-aged taxi driver, had told the police that most of his victims were tourists or outstation visitors who hired his cab for travelling in and around the city.

'He and his gang members would kill the passengers and pocket away their valuables and cash,' the police official said.

Serial killer escapes from train, escorting policemen held

Bhadohi (UP), Sept. 5 (PTI): A serial killer, accused in about 300 criminal cases, today jumped out of a moving train and escaped while he was being brought by police to Varanasi in connection with a court case.

Salim Qureshi, brought from Meerut in the Kashi Vishwanath Express train, fled between the Suryavan and Bhadohi railway stations while the three constables escorting him -- Khemchand, Gyanand Singh and Raj Bahadur -- were sleeping. Qureshi removed the handcuff and jumped out of the sleeper class coach to escape, police said.

The escort team found Qureshi missing from the coach when the train reached Suryavan station here. An FIR was registered at Janghai police station in Allahabad district after Suryavan police refused to lodge the case as it was not under their jurisdiction.

The three constables were arrested later and a departmental proceeding initiated against them for dereliction of duty.

A manhunt has been launched in Allahabad, Bhadohi and Varanasi districts to nab Qureshi, who was brought for his appearance in the murder case of RPF constable Rajesh Singh. He was arrested in Meerut on March eight in connection with several cases of murder, loot and other crimes.
