New Delhi, Jun 6
27-year-old Brahmpal helped his friend reunite with his wife who left him but when he refused to pay Rs 20,000 as agreed, he found a way to realise the money - kidnap his friend\'s four-year-old child. But Brahmpal landed in police net yesterday along with his accomplice Surjeet (23) and the child was rescued from Shabad Mohmmad Pur yesterday. It all started with Brahmpal assuring Santosh Kumar, a resident of Nangloi, that he will help him bring back his wife, who had left him, if he pays Rs 20,000 to him. "Brahmpal and one of his friends succeeded in reuniting the couple but Kumar later backed out and did not pay Rs 20,000. Brahmpal and Surjeet abducted the boy then," ACP (West) V Renganathan said. The boy was kidnapped by the duo on June 1 and Kumar received a Rs 20,000 ransom call. Police traced the call to Kanauj in Uttar Pradesh. The accused, sensing police were on their track, later shifted the boy to Shabad Mohammad Pur, from where they were nabbed. The boy was rescued and the accused were produced before a court here, police said.
